So lj_biz has spoken...
And as some people have said: well that took a lot of time and a lot of words to clarify very little at all. For the first time since the start I'm honestly angry instead of just disappointed but understanding regarding Six Apart's methods.

While my big girl pants are still most of the way on, there are some things it seems that I still need to clarify. I'll update this with time stamps if in my browsing I come across any other incorrect information put forth in reference to or defense of me that I haven't already debunked in previous posts made here in this journal.

  • I did not have a permanent account. I had a regular paid journal, with the added paid icons. Mine had been paid journal, however, since very near when my account was created (in late 2002, I believe) without lapse. For the record, I have never personally spent money on my journal although I have bought time and icons for others. All paid time for my journal was gifted to me by friends/fans of my work who were extremely generous before I ever even needed to think about it. As Six Apart's decision is to not offer me any recompense for my remaining 5 months of paid time, I plan to contact these persons and see how I might make things right as soon as my primary computer is back home with me again.

Those of you who are trying to get a clear statement out of Six Apart, I wish you the best of luck. (I'm also deathly curious as to what that german article said, translation anyone?) [eta: in the comments!] When all is said and done though, I'm still more concerned about the security issue I posted about early this morning.

If anyone has reported it, where is their response on that?

I think there was a translation to the article in German posted in the comments section of maeg's LJ.

Hi. One of your many supporters here.

Will you be appealing the suspension from LJ?

Thank you. The support of fandom even when not necessarily personal, but for the group collectively means a lot to me.

No I will not, as I'd already intended to not continue paying for their services once my journal time expired (which would have been in January). I will however be asking for clarification for the specific criteria used to render the decision, a personal apology for an LJ staffer spreading what is in effect incorrect information or hearsay about my position, and a public apology to all users maligned and mistreated as a result of all this. As I am a California local, and about to move directly across the bay from their offices, I will ask for this in person if at the least the first and last are not provided within a reasonable amount of time.

I will ask for this in person

PLEASE do! And take a news crew with you -- there's gotta be some kind of University free speech group that has cameras and/or radio access, if mainstream news won't touch it.

I'm really impressed with how calm you're being. I'd be freaking out.

Good move, going in person. And you should probably try getting whoever's been paying for your journal time a refund, too, now that a reasonable way for Californians to get a refund has been found. Even if you don't really care about the money, making them pay out can't hurt as far as making sure 6A remembers this goes.

I guess for me the biggest issue would be the loss of content though I've taken the step since all this to ensure I've backed up on line and off.

I do applaud your calmness in the midst of this storm.

I think it was Elaboration that had the permanent account. Maybe that's what's confusing people. http://www.greatestjournal.com/users/fauxglass/1238.html
